A Russian freighter, which ran aground outside Murmansk this weekend, is
leaking a lot of oil, but nothing has been done to contain the spillage.
The freighter ran aground at Myslodinny at the seaward approach to Murmansk
Saturday. The 19 people on board were evacuated, but the ship is still
grounded, reported TV 2. The ship is leaking oil, but nothing has been done
to contain the spillage.
Lars Andre Jensen, skipper of the salvage vessel Tambur, said to TV 2 that
there was a lot of oil in the sea. He had been driving in oil for at least
one hour in the Murmansk fjord.
The ship, Stepan Rasin, which was on its way to Finland, can also carry as
much as 400 ton fuel.
