Arthur Lee, member of the legendary band Love, threatened to sue and give
the Norwegian journalist a beating if he wrote anything about his jail
sentence.
The pop legend from the 60s is travelling to Norway to play at Ole Bull
Teater in Bergen, April 23, with a new version of the band. It can be
presumed that the interview did not go quite the way the journalist had
planned, as he was threatened with a severe beating and a law suit.
«I’m going to kick the shit out of you if you write anything about my jail
sentence,» Lee screamed on the phone from London, when he was being
interviewed by the local Bergen paper BA.
«I was released from jail after serving less than half my sentence, and I
have moved on with my life. I’m done with that.»
The journalist who called to interview Lee had not been given any
restrictions in terms of the interview, but apparently, asking about his
jail sentence was apparently not the best thing to do.
«Well, you should have asked about this. What is private, is private. I just
talk about music, and if you write a word about the last question, I will
personally sue you. Or give you a beating. I don’t mind a couple of years
more in jail. I’m not afraid,» said Lee before hanging up.
However, before Lee exploded on the unsuspecting journalist, he promised
Bergen the best concert ever.
«I’m promising one thing: Love with Arthur Lee will be the best band Ole
Blues and Bergen have ever experienced. I have never been better on stage,
and I’m not saying that to brag,» Lee said seconds before he saw red and
threatened the Norwegian journalist.
